It s been a long time coming but Luke and I have packed up our lives into six suitcases and moved to New York It s hard to say goodbye to everything we ve ever known and the people we love, but we knew if we didn t do it now we never would. Whilst our friends backpacked around the world after graduation or moved to London, we felt like we were some of the few who stayed behind. At the time I was 18 and my family had just all moved to Tasmania. I was the only one to stay behind, so I had to set up my life and learn very quickly how to be on my own and provide for myself. I didn t know if it was the right choice, but I knew I was where I was meant to be. It was just six months later I opened my online vintage store and Luke was working full time as a graphic designer at an agency, so the idea of relocating overseas seemed so far away for us. That period of my life are some of my fondest memories; it was testing and terrifying, but above anything else it was a time of self growth that I found invaluable to shaping who I am today. In recent years I would get anxiety about being anchored to Australia because my mind was busy dreaming about living in New York. But if there s anything I ve learnt, it s to trust my instincts and to trust myself. I m exactly where I m meant to be, when I m meant to be, and I still can t believe I m finally living in New York
